We had so much fun creating these eco-friendly pumpkins that we just couldn't wait to share them with you! Here is our guide on how to make your own at home, either as a personal crafting project or with a group of your family and friends.
What you will need:
- A pumpkin (of course)
- Biodegradable confetti (we recommend 1-5 litres, depending on the size of your pumpkin)
- PVA glue (to keep it eco-friendly, pick a biodegradable option)
- Paint brush Ribbon (if you'd like a unique adornment)
- A pumpkin spice latte to boost morale!
Step One: Pick your pumpkins
Visit a local farm or visit a pick-your-own pumpkin patch. You can have so much fun with this activity, and there are so many different varieties of pumpkins around – orange ones, white ones, sage ones and even pink!
Tip: Aim for one with a smooth surface to ensure your confetti sticks.
We picked up ours from Woodhall Farm, as we wanted to support fellow local farmers. They also had some fantastic activities for little ones to enjoy, making it a real fun day out. Think potion making, a spooky walk, a pumpkin train and hot chocolates to hand!

Step Two: Now you have your pumpkins, it is time to get creative!
Tidy your workstation and wipe down your pumpkin. Have your PVA glue, paint brush and chosen confetti at the ready.
Tip: Opt for biodegradable PVA glue to apply petals to your pumpkin – this will ensure that, come the end of the season, they'll decompose entirely and feed back into nature.
Step Three: Decide how you wish to decorate your pumpkin
Are you going to cover the whole thing, or perhaps create a more intricate design? You have free rein! Express yourself – let loose. Once you've mapped it out, carefully apply the glue and stick your petals to the pumpkin. Tweak and turn until you're happy with the finished look!
Step Four: Display Your Pumpkin
Once your glue has dried, adorn the stem with a little bow – because, well, it's cute! Then find the perfect place to display your pretty pumpkin masterpiece and sit back to admire its beauty!
We cannot wait to see your creations, so don't forget to tag us in any and all posts when having fun with this activity!
