Just over a month until Valentine's day

Year after year Valentine's day comes and goes, but do you know the story of St. Valentine and why we celebrate Valentine's day?

In Rome in the third century marriage was forbidden. A priest named St Valentine believed in love so continued performing marriage ceremonies in secret. When St Valentine was caught and sentenced to death, many young people threw flowers and notes up to his window to let him know that they too believed in love.

A prison guards daughter befriended the Saint during his imprisonment and on the day he was sent to die, 14th February 269 A.D, he left her a note and signed it "Love from your Valentine". From that day on Valentine's day has been celebrated all over the world with cards and gifts being exchanged as a token of love.

We've got some simple ideas to make Valentines day 2015 extra special!

Scatter some pink petals like 'Candyfloss', 'Raspberry Fool' and 'Cerise' on a white table cloth to create a romantic centre piece and set the mood with some pink candles. Why not give your Valentine a cream rose and lavender wheat sheaf bouquet which they will be able to appreciate for months after Valentine's day. Or choose a plain wheat sheaf and add some fresh flowers of your choice.
